Folklorists
call Cinderella the best-known tale in the world, but this imaginative
re-creation of the story is full of surprises. There's an inspired cast,
including Jennifer Beals and Matthew Broderick as the romantic leads, Jean
Stapleton as the Fairy Godmother and Eve Arden as the wicked Stepmother.
Even the plot itself is a little different, reaching back to early
French versions of the tale of "new" plot twists. Aglow with lavish production
values, delightful special effects and a romantic musical score, this tale
of love triumphing over all obstacles-including even the stroke of midnight-is
a magic coach ride to enchantment. Originally aired on Shelley Duvall's
family-oriented HBO television series.
